OBJECTIVES AND METHODS TO OBTAIN THEM
1.-To make the problems affecting the fir and pine forests of Michoacán and the State of Mexico known, where the monarch butterfly passes the winter months, from November to March.
At each phase of the “Papalotzin” trip (legs of 200 km are estimated), press conferences will be offered and a video will be distributed where the problem is explained, with the intention of having the maximum possible repercussion in the media.
A documentary will be produced where the adventure of the trip is recounted stressing upon the necessity of collaboration in order to conserve the butterfly.
This same documentary, with “Papalotzin” as ambassador, will serve as a vehicle of knowledge between the three countries, their people and, especially, their natural landscapes.
2.-The collection of funds for the conservation of the monarch butterfly. In all of the public appearances of the “Papalotzin” a donation of funds will be asked for, destined to programs for the conservation of the butterfly (for example, as previously mentioned, the Conservation Fund for the Monarch Butterfly, reforestation programs, et cetera).
A 30 % of the commercial exploitation of the produced documentary will be destined to the same conservation programs.
